Making my fascinator from the 1940s;

I began by gathering my material such as lace, netting, thread and needle, ribbon , hair clip and base.

I then gathered some feathers and organised them together to my liking, before tightly tying them together with ribbon and a little bit of wire.

After that I sewed  the lace over the base and round the edges to keep it on securely, before sewing on the feathers by placing a gem in the middle and sewing through the holes under that. I also bunched up some of the lace to give it more volume.

Here is the finished product, I sewed the netting on around the edge and attached pearl beads for additional decoration. Overall the fascinator wasn’t too difficult to make and it took me one evening to complete.
